About Us

Founded in 1990, the Hungarian Music Council (HMC) represents the entire domestic music sector through its nearly fifty member organizations, ranging from music schools and concert organizers to large state institutions and for-profit entities. As a full member of the European and International Music Councils, it helps domestic players build international connections and participates in shaping the regulatory environment of the music sector.


As a member of the International Music Council, and its European organization, the European Music Council, Hungarian Music Council represents the interests of the Hungarian music sector and also advocates the recommendations of these international organizations. Hungarian Music Council is also a member of the International Society for Music Education, and advocates the European Agenda for Music, developed under the leadership of the European Music Council sets out the strategic objectives for the music sector in Europe.
